Position Overview
Power Transmission Solutions, a business unit of Emerson Industrial Automation, is currently seeking an Application Engineer III in Maysville, Kentucky. This position is responsible for supporting customers, sales and internal Customer Service over a broad range of Mechanical and Electrical Power Transmission products. This individual will use their training and experience to support programs in the areas of Application Diagnostics, Training/Education, Design, Installation, Monitoring And Repair/Rebuild.
Job Requirements
Perform field engineering assignments for products assigned, involving diagnostics, installation, maintenance monitoring and troubleshooting problems
Supports our sales effort for products assigned, by making sales trips, writing and presenting technical proposals and justifications to customers
Amount of travel will vary based on opportunities
Investigates and solves technical problems arising in design, manufacturing, engineering, production or marketing of products assigned
Performs failure analysis on products assigned
Train Company employees, customers and others in the product areas assigned.
Review product designs to determine whether a standard product or modified standard design is required considering such factors as customer demands, ease and economy of manufacturing, and established design guidelines, etc
Reviews modifications to existing designs and also for new designs in accordance with sound engineering principles, department standards, procedures and practices
Reviews orders and inquiries and assures customer requirements and specifications are met
Processing orders and inquiries using established departmental procedures and practices
Set up standard designs, practices and procedures for processing order and inquiries
Follow Emerson Ethics and Safety Programs
Follow State and Federal Environmental Compliance Programs
Adhere to all export, import and supply chain security policy requirements relevant to the position and ISO 9000 Standards
Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor
Qualifications and Skills Required
EDUCATION:
BS Engineering required; BSME strongly preferred. BSEE preferred. Additional training in various engineering subjects such as mechanical power transmission is desirable, but not a requirement
Experience:
2 4 years in mechanical rotating equipment design (Bearings, Couplings, Gear Reducers, etc) and/or manufacturing environment; 2 4 years in electrical motor selection and application
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient with personal computer, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet
OTHER SKILLS:
Product design or project procedures
CAD and drafting knowledge
Ability to adjust to varying priorities and project lists
Travel Required: As Needed
